Located in Đông Triều mountain range, which arcs across northeastern Việt Nam, Yên Tử’s highest peak reaches 1,068 meters. Known over time as Elephant Mountain, White Cloud Mountain, Floating Cloud Peak, Sacred Mountain and An Tử, it was revered as the Buddhist capital during the Tran dynasty.
A sacred site, Trúc Lâm Yên Tử (Bamboo Forest Zen) originated here founded by Điều Ngự Giác Hoàng, the Buddha Enlightened King, Tran Nhan Tong.
